About California Pacific Home Improvement

Brian Winch, the owner of California Pacific Home Improvement has been in the roofing industry since 1980. Brian first began with Cal-Pac Roofing, which was a industry leader in Stone coated steel roofing since 1978. The founders were Mel Egan and Alex South. The company specialized in re-roofing existing light framed houses, which usually had a shake roof, with a New Zealand manufactured stone coated steel tile. Over the next 15 years Mel and Alex grew the business to 23 offices throughout California and formed a joint venture with the New Zealand manufacturer to build a manufacturing plant in Southern California.

After the sudden death of Mel Egan in 1990. Alex South carried on the business on his own for 3 years and eventually relinquished his interests in both the manufacturing and the contracting companies. The New Zealand based partners took over the factory 100% and the contracting entities were closed.

San Diego continued to be served by one of the entities that evolved from the change, until 1993 when California Pacific Home Improvement was formed by Brian Winch, one of the Managers of Cal-Pac Roofing.

California Pacific Home Improvement is a family owned team of experienced professionals who take pride in "doing the job right". Brian Winch, the principle of California Pacific Home Improvement has more than 20 years of experience with stone coated steel roofing. Brian Winch emigrated from New Zealand to California in 1980 to help manage offices of Cal-Pac Roofing. During those years he train many of those that are still in the business today.

In 2007, California Pacific Home Improvement added new products and services to it' collection. California Pacific Home improvement now can offer our customers a one stop shop for all your home improvement needs, like kitchen and bath remodeling, vinyl window installation, skylight installations. We also install patio covers, sunrooms.
